white tulips

Anyone can grow a white tulip garden and that means you, too. For some people, a white tulip garden represents heaven. White is the color of newness, purity, of being clean and fresh. If you would like to experience a little bit of heaven on earth next spring, plant white flowers this fall.

You can achieve your own interpretation of heaven when you use a variety of different flowers, including white tulips. You can start designing your white tulip garden by fertilizing your own imagination. Get to know how tall each white tulip is, and what time of the year during which each one blooms. This will help you plan your garden so the flowers will bloom at the time that you would like them to bloom.

The tip you should remember when adding a variety of flowers is to know how far apart they spread when each bulb is grown, how tall the reach, and when they bloom. You also would want to know how much sun and water each one needs as well. A good rule of thumb is to plant tulip bulbs three to six inches apart and three to six inches deep for single tulips; six to nine inches deep for double tulips.

If you know when each flower grows you will know exactly which ones to plant with it, or which ones not to plant with it. There are three general "seasons" of tulips, early, mid and late. Early tulips bloom from mid-March to mid-April. Mid tulips bloom from April to May. Late tulips bloom from May to June. Tulip blossoms can last from one to three weeks before the petals droop, wither and fall. Most tulip varieties, except for bouquet tulips, yield only one tulip blossom per bulb.

For example, before you purchase and plant Purissima Jumbo white tulip bulbs, you will want to know when their single jumbo flower blossoms. These pure ivory beauties reach their peak in mid spring and reach a height of up to 26 inches tall.

Another medium flower single tulip is the Ice Princess tulip, which grows from 18 to 20 inches high and blooms in mid-to-late spring.

If you want to see a double or peony white tulip in your heavenly garden, consider the Mt. Tacoma white tulip. This tulip blooms in mid-to-late spring and reaches a height of up to 22 inches. The Super Bowl white tulip is another double tulip variety with a purple base. Double tulip flowers yield masses of glistening white petals are stunning in your garden and a vase on your table.

A white tulips that looks superb in the late spring is the Skagit Valley white tulip. This tulip is white with blue edges on its petals. The tulip flower grows to a height of 20 to 24 inches.

You can think of countless other ways to make your virtual heaven here on earth as well. You do not have to necessarily make your heaven-on-earth completely white. After all, you can imagine heaven to include every color of the rainbow, and then some. If you do not limit yourself while planting your white tulip garden, your imagination can really run wild.
